Robert Furr, MD
Dr. Robert S. Furr, Director of the Women's Surgery Center and Faculty of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopics, completed residency training at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago , Illinois . As an OB/GYN resident at Loyola, Dr. Furr received training in pelvic floor reconstruction under the supervision of internationally-recognized urogynecologist, Dr. Linda Brubaker. Dr. Furr received training in female endocrinology and hormone therapy from nationally-recognized reproductive endocrinologist Dr. Michael Zinaman. Dr. Furr is fellowship trained in minimally invasive urogynecologic surgery through the Women's Surgery Center by Dr. C.Y. Liu.
Dr. Furr is very involved in research regarding the evaluation and minimally-invasive surgical treatment of endometriosis and disorders of the pelvic floor including pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence. Dr. Furr is the co-author of the chapter on laparoscopic hysterectomy in a major endoscopic publication.
In addition to standard laparoscopic techniques, Dr. Furr is also certified in the use of the newest technologies available to the minimally-invasive surgeon including the DaVinciT Robot, 3-D laparoscopic technology, and SILS - "Use of these new technologies afford our patients the opportunity for shorter hospital stays, less post-operative pain and a more rapid return to a normal lifestyle."
